What comes to mind when you think of pie? Is it the juicy, gravy soaked steak? Or perhaps it's the golden crisp pastry that whets your appetite? Well whatever it is, steak pies are one of our specialities here at The Windmill and we couldn't be prouder fo each and eery one that leaves our kitchen.
To celebrate the re-opening of our beautifully refurbished Pie Room, we’re launching our very own pie-tastic blog to keep you updated on 'all things pie' at the Windmill. This month we’re making you drool by talking about our famous Steak and Kidney pie. This classic pie is a staple on our menu, and last year won Bronze in the 2017 Great British Pie Awards. Our recipe was developed by previous Pie Master Carl and is now freshly prepared every morning by Head Chef Lukasz and his team. The key to this classic dish is the amazing suet pastry; crisp and delicious it encases the tender steak and kidney for that ultimate comfort dish throughout the colder months.
